Renovated terminal is ready for launch of Porter Airlines service and future growth
Vantage Group and TradePort Celebrate Completion of Passenger Terminal Enhancements at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport

Hamilton, ON; June 2, 2025: Today, Vantage Group and its wholly owned subsidiary TradePort International Corporation (TradePort), celebrated the substantial completion of significant enhancements to the passenger terminal at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (Hamilton International). Hamilton International officials were joined at a ribbon-cutting celebration by key municipal leaders, project partners, and community stakeholders to officially unveil the refreshed passenger terminal.
Enhancements include an expanded exterior frontage, which will help improve curb operations, with updated landscaping and a marquis YHM sign offering a warm welcome to travelers. Inside the terminal, upgrades to check-in, baggage claim, and the departure gate areas create a more efficient and elevated passenger experience. Integration of architectural elements and contemporary finishes inspired by the region’s natural geography lend the terminal a unique sense of place, while new digital signage and lighting upgrades enhance the overall travel journey.
Delivered by a team of Vantage personnel and dedicated project partners PCL and Stantec, the on-time completion of Hamilton International’s multi-million dollar terminal refresh comes as Porter Airlines launches its new multi-destination schedule from Hamilton on June 3. Through a strategic partnership between Vantage, TradePort, and Porter, the airline is operating daily service from Hamilton to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and Vancouver, just in time for the busy summer travel season.
These passenger terminal enhancements and Porter’s service commitments demonstrate the success of the long-term, collaborative partnership between the City of Hamilton and TradePort to make Hamilton International an important gateway for tourism and business and a critical creator of local jobs and economic impact.
This is the latest milestone in a decades-long partnership between TradePort and the City of Hamilton to manage and grow the Airport as an important air service gateway and economic driver, and we look forward to many more. Through this strong partnership, our investment in Hamilton International in turn helps propel additional investment and power further economic growth in the region, which benefits the entire community.
“The enhancements we’ve made to the passenger terminal will significantly elevate the travel experience for our guests, while positioning Hamilton International for continued growth and ongoing safe, sustainable, and efficient operations,” said Peter Tong, CEO, TradePort and Vantage Group executive. “Along with new service from our strategic partner, Porter Airlines, we’re investing in building an airport that reflects this dynamic, growing destination – an airport that our community deserves.”
“The terminal enhancements coincide with the start of service to four Porter destinations, elevating the overall passenger journey and making the airport experience that much more efficient. This is a welcome transformation as a partner, and for travellers,” said Michael Deluce, CEO, Porter Airlines.
“The enhancements unveiled today at Hamilton International Airport are more than just infrastructure upgrades, they’re a reflection of our city’s growing momentum,” said Mayor Andrea Horwath. “As we welcome new air service and improved passenger amenities, we’re also opening doors to greater economic opportunity, tourism, and connectivity for Hamiltonians. This project showcases what’s possible through strong public-private collaboration. I want to thank Vantage Group, TradePort, and all the project partners for their continued investment in Hamilton’s future. Together, we’re building a world-class airport that reflects the strength and potential of our community.”
