TAP Air Portugal Selects New JFK Terminal 6 for Future Operations

Mar 31, 2026

TAP Air Portugal has selected John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6 (T6) as its future home, further strengthening the growing community of world-class carriers that will operate from the terminal beginning with its phase one opening in 2026. The announcement was made by JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), the consortium led by Vantage Group that is developing and operating the state-of-the-art terminal on JFK’s north side.

TAP joins an expanding roster of international and domestic airline partners that have already committed to Terminal 6, including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, ANA, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Cathay Pacific, Brussels Airlines, JetBlue, Condor, Frontier, Kuwait Airways, Lufthansa, Norse Atlantic Airways, and SWISS. Together, these leading carriers reflect a shared commitment to operational excellence, connectivity, and delivering an elevated passenger experience.

TAP has served the New York market for more than 50 years and currently operates daily nonstop service between JFK and Lisbon. The airline will continue operating from its current terminal until its planned move to T6 later in 2026. Once operational, TAP passengers will benefit from Terminal 6’s digital-first, boutique guest experience, including short walking distances to gates, biometric-enabled self-service bag drop, premium lounges, and more than 100,000 square feet of New York City–inspired dining, retail, and amenities — all within a sustainably designed, world-class facility.
