LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), in collaboration with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has announced a major project to expand electric ground support equipment (eGSE) charging infrastructure at LaGuardia Terminal B. Delivered in partnership with Conrac Solutions, the initiative will more than double existing charging capacity and support the Port Authority’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

The project, expected to be completed in 2027, will install 164 new charging ports across the terminal’s concourses and baggage areas, increasing the total to 250. This expansion represents a significant step in transitioning from fossil fuel-powered ground support equipment to electric alternatives—an important contributor to reducing airport-related emissions.

The initiative forms part of the Port Authority’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes electrification, clean construction practices, solar expansion, and collaboration with partners to reduce emissions across its operations. Preliminary data indicates the agency has already achieved a 35% reduction in direct greenhouse gas emissions by 2025, with further targets set for 2030 and 2050.
