Transition from public to private investment and management
Vantage and its partners managed all aspects of the transition from public operation to private management of the airport by MBJ Airports.
Essential infrastructure upgrades
Vantage led all phases of financing, project management, and construction of the airport’s runway overlay, a new airfield emergency fire hall, an aircraft refueling system, and an additional 18 passenger loading bridges.
Guest experience enhancements
Commercial space for shopping, restaurants, and amenities has expanded by 158% at the airport, and grown to include the Caribbean’s first walk-through duty free boutique and an immersive Jamaican-inspired retail and food & beverage experience.
New airlines and services
Working with partners, MBJ significantly diversified its airline relationships and international destinations to maximize year-round tourism.
This upgrade to Automated Border Control Systems will not only reduce passenger queuing but also lay the foundation for a future-ready airport that can accommodate the growing demands of air travel. The implementation of these technological advancements represents a significant leap forward in our ongoing efforts to redefine the passenger experience.
As part of Jamaica’s climate change initiative, an array of rooftop solar panels were installed on the airport’s main departure terminal of Sangster, generating 1 megawatt of electricity and reducing the airport’s reliance on the energy grid.
This effort earned MBJ Level 2 Accreditation from Airports Council international’s Airport Carbon Accreditation program for a reduction in carbon emissions in 2023.
Sangster International Airport is the proud recipient of the World Travel Awards’ Best Caribbean Airport for 15 consecutive years.
